    3 miles @ <70% max

First time I've ran 2 days in a row. Went a quicker today but that could of been due to the cooler weather.

    Max HR test.

I also did the Max HR test today, which is required to find my recovery ceiling and threshold floor. My max HR is 206bpm, and I took my RHR this morning at 49bpm.

The equation for my recovery ceiling works out as

    (Max HR - RHR)x 0.7 + (RHR)
    (206-49)x 0.7 + 49

    = 158.9bpm

which is what the majority of my runs in the near future will be ran at.

    Just hope it works out.

Well Heart Monitor Training for the Compleat Idiot arrived yesterday and after reading through it decided that I would give it a go. Rather than jump straight in with the novice schedule, which is more mile/week than I have ever done, I've decided to go with the novice scratch schedule which for the first couple of weeks goes like this.

     Week 1Week 2Week 3Week 4
    Monday3 miles <70%3 miles <70%3 miles <70%3 miles <70%
    Tuesday3 miles <70%4 miles <70%4 miles <70%4 miles <70%

If I manage to get through that lot, Ill start on the proper novice program.

Just ordered Heart Monitor Training for the Complete Idiot from Amazon, so thought I would pre-empt its arrival by trying to keep my HR somewhere near 150 which is about 75% of my max. Ended up walking more than running, but I assume that is the point.
